Lemon juice is what people use and yes it does work. Just gives really light natural highlights over an extended period of time being out in the sun with lemon juice in your hair.

I have naturally blonde hair, and have used all sorts of natural highlight ideas, including lemon juice. I didn't notice that it worked very well, and if you do it poolside and then get in an overchlorinated pool...you could turn your hair green (been there, done that). "Sun In" spray is the best temporary highlight I know of that you can just spray and leave in. It works on blondes and people with light-medium brown hair.

I did it and it worked, but I didn't like it! It got too blonde looking for me, and it does take like 4-ever to get results! Just go for it if your curious 4 urself! :)

i have. i have dark brown hair, and it worked but its really subtle. however i found out after i had done it that lemon juice dries out you hair, so maybe its not worth it.

Lemon juice works and you dont have to be blonde. Im a brunette and i used to do it all the time. After you do it go sit in the sun for a while. You could also use Sun-In. You can buy it at any drug store. After you put that in blow dry it then go sit in the sun.

hello.

i am a brunette and i have been putting lemon in my shampoo for over a year now.

no, it didnt give me actual high lights. But, it did give my hair nice texture.

it also makes my hair very soft and shiny. it made my hair look SO much healthier!!!

and my hair stylist told me that lemon helps with the build up of products in you hair. So, if you use hair spray or mousse or gel or any product at all, it is good for.

As well, if you use pantene or harbal essences ( which are said to be bad for your hair because they create build-up on ur hair) this will help you.

Finally, it makes my hair look healthy and thick.

Thanks to the lemon in my shampoo...I GET SO MANY COMPLIMENTS ON MY HAIR BUT EEVRYONE!

p.s. ever sicne i started using lemon and everyone asks me my trick...they all started doing it to!

Yeah!

It worked really well.

I'm not so sure about it only working on blondes because I had dirty blonde hair when I was younger.
