I'm 4 1/2 months pregnant and I want to get highlights. Would that put my babies at risk? (I'm having twins! A boy and a girl.)

It's fine to get your hair bleached or dyed after the first trimester. My Dr. says not to get your hair straightened at all during a pregnancy because of the chemicals used. Good Luck pretty mama!

dont do it not because its dangerous but the chemicals you smell in the salon could be dangerous.

My doctor said it was ok to have my hair dyed. My sister is a hair stylist and she also said it was OK. I have read that you should not get a perm when you're pregnant.

Highlights are ok since it's not put onto the scalp. Just don't get all over hair color where it sits on your scalp while it's processing - the dye will leak into your skin %26amp; it's unknown how safe that is for a baby.

I colored my hair during both my pregnancy's. No problems. The chemicals they use now days are not harmfull to your hair while your pregnant or your babies. PROMISE! I know from experience.

Its ok, just be careful not to breathe in the fumes from the chemicals and you should be fine.

It's no big deal. Highlights are an off-the-scalp procedure.

Even regular dye is no big deal. In the past, different (highly carcinegenic) chemicals were used for dye. The formulas have changed since then.

But try not to breath in many fumes... everythings fine.. bak in the day hair dye's were made out of harmful substances.. these days its all different and cant harm u or your child from breathing it in for a short period of time.

I did and nothing happened!! Most hair dye are made naturally now!! They used to tell you not to do it because of the ammonia in the dye most dyes don't have it anymore!! Call your salon and ask them if they use ammonia baised dye!! GOOD LUCK!! and CONGRAT!! you got a handful on the way!!

It's safe but sometimes the hormones that your body produces while pregnant will react funny to the dye and it will come out a weird color.
